Sellers Fast – Not Fast Enough to Outrun Flat Tire
Nashville, TN --- Racing is a sport where sometimes the stats don’t tell the whole story. The NASCAR Busch East Series Music City 150 on Sunday night was one of those times for Peyton Sellers. The team unloaded the second fastest time in the first practice, and posted a 9th place qualifying position on a track they had never seen before.
After the green flag flew, Sellers moved quickly through the pack to take the lead on lap 33. “The car is by far the fastest car on the track tonight”, remarked Dan Pardis, television sports commentator on HDNet who broadcasted the event live on Sunday night.
Unfortunately, a flat tire on lap 48 under green put Sellers three laps down. After working the #83 Strutmasters.com Chevrolet back through the pack, the 2005 NASCAR Dodge Weekly Racing Series National Champion finished 16th for the evening
“H. C. did an amazing job getting the car ready”, said Sellers, referring to noted crew chief and brother H. C. Sellers. “He kept telling me the car would be fast tonight, and not to worry about our qualifying spot. He was right. We were right up there again – and early in the race. Even though our finish wasn’t what we’d hoped, we left still feeling great about the next race.”
Sellers remains 4th in points standings among 58 drivers in the Busch East series. With just five races to go for the season, the team is back in Danville, Virginia preparing the car for the race this weekend at Adirondack International Speedway in Lowville, NY on Saturday. The team hopes that its commitment to running a competitive schedule will continue to attract additional sponsors for the 2007 and 2008 seasons.
The Edge Hotel 150 will be broadcast live on HD Net on July 28th at 6:00 PM, and tape delayed on the Speed Channel on Wednesday, August 22nd at noon. Please check your local listings.
