Sellers Prepares for All-Star Race in California
Irwindale, CA: After a strong season in the NASCAR Grand National Division Busch East Series, Peyton Sellers is heading West to Irwindale, CA to compete in the Toyota All-Star Showdown on October 19th and 20th. The event is considered the premiere race in the US at this level, and includes the best of the best in both the Super Late Model and Grand National Divisions. Sellers finished the 2007 Busch Ea st Series 3rd in overall points with 13 starts, 1 pole, 4 top five and 9 top ten finishes.
“I’m looking forward to racing at Irwindale again,” said Sellers. “We have been taking advantage of the time we’ve had off to work on the car and make sure we have it where it needs to be for a race like this.”
Sellers captured the pole in his last visit to Irwindale, while racing in the NGND WestSeries in 2006 with Bill McAnally’s program, so the team is familiar with the track. Sellers won Rookie of the Year honors that year by finishing 5th in total points for the season.
It’s been a storybook year for the former 2005 Dodge Weekly Racing Series National Champion, who has been running strong all season with some sponsorship help from Strutmasters.com. “Peyton’s a talented driver and has managed to stay out of trouble during most of the races. The whole team has worked hard to make sure we had a fast car. We’re thrilled to be where we are, and look forward to moving to the next level as soon as sponsorship allows for it.” The team has also secured a one race sponsorship for Irwindale from hometown auto dealer Woodall Chevrolet in Danville, VA.
In its short five-year history, the Toyota All-Star Showdown has become known as the Daytona 500 of the East and West Grand National Divisions. This year’s race officials have extended the number of laps in the race to 250.
Qualifying and the race will be televised live on the SPEED Channel. Qualifying will start at 8:00pm EST on Friday, October 19th. Race coverage will begin at 10:00pm EST on Saturday, October 20th. |
