Sellers comes back East – and impresses with strong showing in Greenville.

“Go West, young man,” the saying goes…and go West Peyton Sellers did in 2006. Following his 2005 National Championship in the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Racing Series, he signed on with Bill McAnally Racing, driving the #16 Napa Auto Parts car in the AutoZone Grand National West Series last year. The 2006 Sunoco Rookie of the year collected one win, two poles, six top-five finishes, and seven top-tens, finishing fifth in points, and this year is returning home to race the Busch East series.
“I’m excited to be back on the East coast where the sport and I were both born,” said Sellers, a native of Danville, Virginia. It also happens to be where his favorite crew chief is, his brother, HC Sellers, also a highly respected name in the sport. “The energy and chemistry on the team is great, and we’re really excited about the 2007 season.”
The Sellers team ran a strong Busch East opener last weekend at the Greased Lightning 150 in Greenville, SC, finishing fourth. “It was a huge confidence builder for our team, moving to the next level and fielding this car for the first time”, said HC, “and Peyton was right back in championship form.”
Sellers has long been a supporter of education, with the motto “Stay in School” often plastered across his windshield. Currently searching for a primary sponsor for the 2007 and 2008 seasons, he remains actively engaged in educational outreach programs, particularly with trade and technical schools. “It’s just something I believe in,” stated Sellers, a graduate himself of Danville Community College. “We believe it’s something that a potential sponsor would be interested in being associated with.”
Sellers racing is anticipating a strong showing in the upcoming Busch East races in both Minnesota on May 18th and Iowa on May 20th. The team is currently sponsored by Clarence’s Steak House, and is actively working to secure additional sponsorship for those events and the remainder of the 2007 season.
