Sellers Continues to Show Strong Potential
May 23, 2007
Newton, IA --- It was a busy weekend for Sellers Racing and Peyton Sellers, who ran both of the combo Busch East/West Grand National races last weekend. The team showed their potential in both the Friday night Minnesota 150 in Elko, Minnesota, and the Feratherlite 200 held at Iowa Speedway the following Sunday. The team has picked up sponsorship recently with both Clarence’s Steak House and Strutmasters.com, a leading supplier of air suspension systems and automotive struts and springs.
Qualifying 11 th in a field of nearly 50 cars, the team finished 6 th in the Friday night event, and was running third until a spin mid-way through the race which sent Peyton to the back of the field. “It was a great recovery – we have a heck of a car. It’s a pretty short track compared to the other tracks on the circuit, and a lot of drivers just weren’t prepared for it. If it wasn’t for being spun out, we probably had a shot at the win”.
Sunday, the team unloaded an even stronger performance for the Iowa race, qualifying in fourth with such names as Kevin Harvick in the field of 53, who was just off his win in the NASCAR All-Star race the day before. “We were running in third and fourth position all night, really pushing both Harvick and Logano. If we hadn’t dropped a cylinder when we did, we would have been a contender again. Even though the stats ended with us at the back, we honestly left still feeling great. We’ve got one car, and one engine, and we’re right up there with the biggest names in the sport in every race”, said Sellers.
The team is preparing for the next race in the series, on June 2 nd at their home track in South Boston, Virginia. This is where Peyton was track champion in 2005 and laid the foundation for his National Championship in the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Racing Series that same year.
“They’re coming to our backyard now…and we’re in real good shape”, said crew chief H. C. Sellers. “Everything’s clicking”. The team is currently 8 th in points standings in the Busch East Series.
The race will be televised live on HDNet and replayed on an enhanced broadcast on SPEED Channel’s Racing Across America. Please check your local listings. The team is currently sponsored by Clarence’s Steak House and Strutmasters.com, and is actively working to secure additional sponsorship for the remainder of the 2007 season.
