Home Still Sweet for Sellers in Busch East Race
June 5, 2007
South Boston , VA --- Peyton Sellers returned home Saturday night to South Boston Speedway in his old championship form. After qualifying on the pole, Sellers led 101 laps of the South Boston 150, the fourth stop on the Busch East Grand National Tour, and finished second. Sellers now sits in third place in the Busch East standings.
The 2005 NASCAR Dodge Weekly Racing Series National Champion and South Boston Track Champion, Sellers has raced competitively in the Busch East Series this year. Anticipation was high for the hometown crowd, who came decked out in their orange Sellers t-shirts and filled in under the Peyton Sellers Grandstand section.
The caution-filled evening and constant duel between Sellers and Matt Kobyluck (who exchanged the lead with Sellers 11 times), made for an exciting night. With four restarts over the last 50 laps, the final one with only five laps to go, it became an intensely close battle, right to the line. “We just had a second place car”, said Sellers, “But it felt great to run well in front of my home fans”.
Currently sponsored by Strutmasters.com, Clarence’s Steak House and Robert Woodall Chevrolet, the team hopes their strong performance will continue to attract sponsors.
The team will go on to the next race on June 8th in Stafford Springs, CT. The race will be replayed on an enhanced broadcast on SPEED Channel’s Racing Across America on Wednesday, June 20th. Please check your local listings.
